Jack Richard Hanke passed away at his home on September 6, 2014 at the age of 77. He was born on December 10, 1936 in Hood River, Oregon to parents John and Mary Hanke. Jack served his country honorably in the US Navy, and worked for most of his like as a customer service agent in the airline industry. In 1983, Jack married Astrid (Svensson), and joined her family. Jack enjoyed spending time fixing things around the house, and taking care of his wife Astrid, as well as hunting and fishing. He traveled frequently with Astrid to visit her family in Sweden, and hunted there as well. Jack was a good man, and loved by all who knew him.
Jack is survived and missed by his wife, Astrid Hanke; sister Delores Abundiz, son Richard Rhoads; stepchildren Lenny Rancher and Ellen Willis; grandchildren Trevor Rhoads (Atosha), Katrina (Jonathan) Molo, Samantha Rhoads, Ellen Rhoads, and Jubal Tancher, and great-grandson Joey Rhoads, as well as family friend Teresa, and many other friends and family. Jack will be laid to rest at Lincoln Memorial Park in Portland, Oregon. Services will be held on Friday September 12, 2014 at 2pm at the family home.
