Gary Michael Asti, age 72, passed away peacefully on June 22, at Methodist Hospital, St. Louis Park. He was born February 20, 1948, in Pittsburgh, PA to Robert Vincent Asti and Fedalma Genevieve Asti. He graduated from Blackford High School, San Jose CA in 1968.
Early in his career, he worked for Lockheed Corp. as a draftsman, but yearned for travel and took the opportunity to become a flight attendant. In 1976 he began his career with Hughes Airwest, then North Central, Republic, Northwest, and Delta Airlines.
He traveled the world, took his golf clubs with him, and especially enjoyed transporting troops overseas destined for combat. Each Christmas Gary handcrafted and painted wood tree ornaments for children at Gillette Children’s Hospital.
He is survived by a daughter, Kari Asti, and granddaughter, Kyra Pauley, and three younger brothers, Greg (June), Glenn (Susan) and Gale (Karen) Asti, and many beloved nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church 901 East 90th Street Bloomington, MN 55420 Friday 10:30 a.m. visitation and 11:00 funeral mass. Interment to follow service at Resurrection Cemetery 2101 Lexington Avenue South, Mendota Heights, MN 55120. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Gillette Children’s Hospital.
