Dean L. Weinland, Sr., 74, of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2013. Dean was born in East St. Louis, Illinois on October 23, 1938 to Albert and Doris Weinland. He lived in East St. Louis until he joined the Air Force in 1955, where he served until he was discharged in 1959. Dean married LaDonne McCosh on June 2, 1956, and they had three sons. In 1961, Dean went to Parks Air College in Cahokia, Illinois and trained to be a commercial aircraft mechanic. After graduation he worked for Ozark Airlines before moving to Mesa, Arizona in 1966. During his career he became proficient in all areas of aircraft maintenance and repair including sheet metal, upholstery, radio communications, and jet engine overhaul. He continued to work in the commercial airline industry until his retirement in 2000. Dean enjoyed spending time with his family at their cabin in northern Arizona. Dean was willing to help anyone in need and was a friend to everyone he met. He will be dearly missed by all his friends and family. Dean is survived by LaDonne, his twin brother Dale, and his three sons: Dean Jr. and his wife Carolyn, Scott and his wife Pam, and David. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded by his parents, his older brother Kenneth, and one great-grandchild, Jeremiah. A celebration of Dean’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at Hawthorn Court at Ahwatukee, 13822 S. 46th Place, Phoenix, AZ, 85044.
