Marvin David Rountree, age 69, a resident of Fort Hill Dr., Blounts Creek, NC passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at Vidant Beaufort Hospital. There will be a graveside celebration of his life with military honors, officiated by Luther Harvey, at 12:00 PM Monday, April 21 at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Montford Landing Rd., Jacksonville, NC.
Marvin was born July 18, 1944 on Camp Lejune son of Earl Rountree and the late Verla Paul Rountree. He was married to Judy Franklin Rountree who survives. Marvin served his country in the United States Air Force. He received his education from Saddleback College in Santa Anna, CA. Marvin was a baggage handler and counter for Northwest Airlines (Delta) and retired after 33 years of service. He had made his home in Blounts Creek since 2005 and was a member of Beaufort County Plow Boys.
In addition to his wife, Marvin is survived by his daughter, Meredith and his son, Michael Rountree and wife Jeanine both of California; his step-daughters, Valerie Butler of Wilmington, NC and Susan Griswold of Missouri; his step-son, Michael Darling of Oregon; his grandsons, Christian and Colin; and his granddaughter, Marley.

There will be a friendship gathering at the Rountree residence on Monday, April 21, 2014 from 4:30 to 7:30 pm. There is no planned agenda but merely a time to stop by and say hello.
