Jeannette M. "Westley" Hancock, went home to be with Jesus on November 12, due to a motor vehicle crash. Jean was born on September 28, 1949 in Fukuoka, Japan to Joseph M. and Myrtis K. Hancock. She lived in Japan and Germany as well as Alabama, Georgia, and Maryland prior to moving to Arizona in 1969. She is a graduate of Bowie High School in Bowie, Maryland. She obtained her Associate Degree from Prince George Community College in Maryland in 1969 and earned her BS degree in Organizational Sociology from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona in May 2000. She worked in the airline industry for 18 years - for Hughes Air West and Republic Airlines in sales and for America West Airlines in Yield Management. Jean loved the Lord, loved to sing and loved her animals. She was a member of Open Door Fellowship Church where she taught Fourth Grade Sunday School, was actively involved in the Sunny Bunch singing group, the Citrus Way Singers, and did volunteer work at the Crisis Nursery and the Washington Adult Center. In past years, she helped people at Fellowship Square and Roosevelt Plaza. She is survived by her brother, Joe Hancock (Stephanie) of Odenton, Maryland; her two sisters, Joan Good (Paul) of Eatonville, Washington and Judi Clement (Clem), of Sun Lakes, Arizona; nieces Kelly Good, Kitty Farnham and Jennifer Hancock; nephews, Larry Clement, John Clement, and Steve Clement; four great nieces and five great nephews. She will be truly missed. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2002, at 2 p.m. in the Best Funeral Service Chapel, 501 East Dunlap Avenue, Phoenix, AZ. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Building Fund of Open Door Fellowship Church, 8301 N. 19th Avenue, Phoenix AZ 85021.
