Capt. Ralph Zanette lost his battle with cancer on Friday, May 14, 2004.  Visitation will be on Thurs eve, 5/20/04 between 6P and 8P at Roller, Hapgood & Tinney Funeral Home, 980 Middlefield Rd, Palo Alto, CA and then a funeral mass will be held at 10A on Friday 5/21/04 at the Church of the Nativity located at 210 Oak Grove Ave in Menlo Park.  The location of the reception will be announced at the church.  Anyone wishing to reach the family may contact Ralph’s son, Chris Zanette at 650-574-5054.

ZANETTE, Ralph Dominic - Major Ralph D. Zanette (Ret.) died peacefully at his childhood home in Palo Alto after a valiant fight against cancer. He was 73 years old. Ralph is survived by his mother, Frances I. Zanette; son, Christopher Zanette and his wife Carla; son, Mark Zanette; daughter, Teri Zanette and two loving grandchildren, Christina and Joseph Zanette. After his graduation from Bellermine High School in 1949 and from Santa Clara University in 1953, his love of flying took him to the Air Force and to Amarillo, Texas for training. He was commissioned as a pilot in 1955. He served his country well during the Korean Conflict, the Cuban Missile Crisis and the Viet Nam War. After his release from active duty he began his flying career as an airline pilot with Pacific Airlines then with Air West, Hughes Air West, Republic, and retired from Northwest Airlines in 1986. Pallbearers will be his sons, Christopher Zanette and Mark Zanette, his grandson Joseph Zanette, and his long time friends Jack Cassedy, Clyde McGowan and Don Hall. Honorary pallbearers will be John Botini, Anthony Botini and Hugh Paladino The vigil will start at 6:00 PM on Thursday Evening at the Roller & Hapgood & Tinney Funeral Home, 980 Middlefield Road, Palo Alto. A service, to celebrate Ralph's life will be at 10:00 AM at the Church of the Nativity, 210 Oak Grove Avenue, Menlo Park. Interment will follow at the Gate Of Heaven Cemetery, 22555 Cristo Rey Drive, Los Altos. In memory of Ralph, donations may be made to Pathways Hospice, 201 San Antonio Cir., #135, Mt. View, CA 94040.
