Donald Neal Welch, 58, of San Pedro, Calif. passed
away on Friday, July 27, 2007, after a long battle with cancer. Don was
born in Boise on Sept. 2, 1948 to Neal and Lorraine Welch. Don grew up
in Boise. He attended Cole Elementary School, West Junior High, and
graduated from Borah High School in 1966. He graduated from Boise State
University in 1970. Don was a member of the Borah and Boise State
University Marching Bands. Don worked for Northwest Airlines for 37
years before retiring last year because of his illness. Don was a proud
member of the International Machinists and Aerospace Workers. He was
elected General Chairman for Air Transport, District 143, based in
Minneapolis. He held this office for five years and enjoyed the work he
did. Don lived on a boat in San Pedro. He enjoyed fishing and living on
the water. He had many wonderful friends in San Pedro. Don was a Boise
State University football fan. He loved going to the games when he
could, watching them on TV in San Pedro, or listening to the games on
the radio on his computer. He had such a good time at the Fiesta Bowl.
We would like to thank Gene Bleymaier, Bush Hamdan, and Ian Johnson for
their special visit with Don. It meant so much to Don and his family.
Don is survived by his mother, Lorraine; his sister, Sharon; his aunt
and uncle, Ralph and Elma Allison; his cousins, Larry and Deborah
Allison, Lisa and Dave Edwards, Bob and Sharon Pilkinton, David and
Lisa Pilkinton; and many other family members. Don was preceded in
death by his father, Neal. We would like to thank Care First Hospice
for taking such good care of Don and his family. Funeral services will
be conducted at Relyea Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, July 31, 2007 at 10
a.m. Graveside services will follow immediately at Cloverdale Cemetery.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, July 31, 2007, from 9 to 10 a.m. at
Relyea Funeral Chapel. Donnie, we love you!
