Vernon Varcoe, an Army veteran of World War II, died April 21, 2004, at Southwest Washington Medical Center. He was 80.
Mr. Varcoe was a flight superintendent for Republic Airlines for 26 years before retiring in 1981. He was born Aug. 26, 1923, in Philadelphia, and lived in Vancouver since 1984.
He was a member of the Nature Conservatory and Earth Watch, and was a world traveler. He was a volunteer at Southwest Washington Medical Center and enjoyed gardening and snow skiing.
There will be no service. Burial will be in Willamette National Cemetery in Portland. Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
