EJ Lawlus, 73, passed away on May 21, 2004. He was born in Kansas, City,
Missouri on March 13, 1931. A decorated Marine in the Korean War, he returned in
1954 and flew seaplanes in Alaska for Kodiak Airways. In 1956 he joined Bonanza
Airlines here in Phoenix and his flying career continued with Hughes Air West,
Republic Airlines and finally, Northwest Airlines. During this lengthy career he
flew aircraft ranging from the DC3 to the 747. While still actively flying, he
was affiliated with Hester, Heitel and Associates as an Aircraft Consultant and
later operated his business from his home. EJ and his wife spent many summers at
their home in Colorado and he was an enthusiastic golfer, both in Colorado and
at the Arizona Country Club and Ancala Country Club in Scottsdale. EJ is
survived by Pat, his loving wife of 19 years. In lieu of flowers, donations may
be sent to the American Cancer Society. Services will be private with
arrangements entrusted to Messinger Indian School Mortuary.
